Testing and NDT

Testing & NDT Services

At Oxford Engineering, testing and non-destructive testing (NDT) are fundamental to how we deliver confidence, reliability and compliance for our customers. Operating across highly regulated and safety-critical sectors, our testing processes are designed to verify performance, validate integrity and eliminate risk long before products reach service.

Advanced Metrology and Dimensional Verification

Central to our inspection capability is the Global S Chrome Laser CMM, one of only a handful of these ultra-precision systems in the UK. This industry-leading machine enables high-speed, high-density measurement of complex geometries, freeform surfaces and deep features with micron-level accuracy. Automated inspection routines allow lights-out quality reporting, providing fast, repeatable and fully traceable dimensional verification. For customers, this means earlier detection of issues, reduced rework and absolute confidence that components meet specification first time.

Pressure, Vacuum and Leak Testing

Oxford Engineering provides in-house pressure and containment testing for critical assemblies, including pressure and vacuum testing up to 120 bar. We operate multiple helium leak detection systems, used extensively on nuclear containment, cryogenic and high-integrity welded assemblies. These capabilities have been proven on defence nuclear submarine components, Class 1 nuclear transport packaging and cryogenic medical systems, where leak-free performance is essential to safety and function.

Non-Destructive Testing and Material Verification

Our NDT services include dye penetrant inspection for surface integrity and weld quality, along with hardness testing and Positive Material Identification (PMI) to confirm full material compliance. Demagnetising processes are applied where required to protect downstream assembly and system performance. All testing is carried out under controlled conditions, with documented procedures and full traceability.

Rigorous Processes, Real Customer Benefit

Testing at Oxford Engineering is not a standalone activity — it is embedded throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. By combining advanced metrology, robust NDT and pressure testing with disciplined quality systems, we help customers reduce risk, accelerate validation and achieve reliable, repeatable performance in the field.

Customers choose Oxford Engineering because our testing capability doesn’t just prove compliance — it protects programmes, reputations and long-term operational success.
